DSCN1142LOCATED in the tranquil Hills of PSB Ulaliman, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental, Divine Mercy Hills is fast becoming a popular pilgrim site in Mindanao. Discovered in 2003, Divine Mercy Hills used to be planted to coconut tress and sineguelas. Today, it is the home of the 50-foot Divine Mercy Statue, so far the tallest Divine Mercy statue in the world. The events leading to the discovery of this place dates back to the year 2000.

The intercessory prayer group of the Divine Mercy Foundation Mindanao (Phils) Inc. an offshoot of a Catholic Charismatic group in Cagayan de Oro City began receiving visions and messages from the Lord to build His church of Mercy.

For three consecutive years, the visionaries of the group repeatedly received the same message of the Lord, to build His church of Mercy with the vision of the Lord, standing on top of a hill overlooking the ocean.

In 2003, the group was fully convinced that this was an authentic divine instruction from the Lord.

In a leap of faith and with only P2,000 in their savings account, they embarked on a search for the site spearheaded by the president of the Foundation, Atty. Guerrero Adaza and executive director, Mrs. Paquita Adaza.

After several attempts and on the verge to give up, the group in February 11, 2003, discovered Divine Mercy Hills in PSB Ulaliman, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.

The place has a total area of 8.5 hectares and its hills slope in three levels. It has a spectacular view of Macajalar Bay of Cagayan de Oro.

To the group’s amazement, they learned that this place has long been prepared by the Lord and kept from public view. Source

385538_308932429126258_100000285102858_1260030_68750712_nMy love and passion for the beach lead me to discover the many beautiful beaches in my Island Philippines and my native land Mindanao. Without any doubt, with the 7,107 Islands of the Philippines, some of the best kept beaches in the world can be found here.

Down south in the Province of Surigao Del Sur lie stunning 24 Islands and Islets so beautifully scattered in the waters Lianga Bay facing the great Oceans of the Pacific. These amazing gifts of nature are calledBRITANNIA GROUP OF ISLANDS.

Britannia Group of Islands is situated in Barangay Britannia of San Agustin in the central region of Surigao Del Sur. From Davao City, San Agustin can be reached by passenger bus or private vehicle approximately 6 hours away. The road trip going there may be dull but rest assured these Islets are worth the long travel. Source

388135_308958495790318_100000285102858_1260325_1792389733_nFinding out about a waterfall unofficially tagged as the “Niagara of the Philippines” made me want to visit the Tinuy-an Falls during my 12-day trip in Northeastern Mindanao.

I was curious to see how it measured up, if its cascades were really comparable to the famed Niagara Falls … at the very least, to see a waterfall in the Philippines that had a more prominent width. I’ve never seen one since most of the waterfalls in the country have like a vertical orientation.

The Tinuy-an Falls was located in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur and since Bislig was majorly out of the way from the rest of my itinerary route, I made it my first stop after arriving in Butuan City.

The caretakers of the Tinuy-an Falls charged P10 entrance fee for visitors (I heard it’s now P20). There were some developments on the grounds like picnic tabes, a sari-sari store, a small playground, a wooden bridge, and even a floating inflatable raft so visitors could get close to the main cascade. Source

Enchanted River

305207_308963095789858_100000285102858_1260408_1137153787_nLooking at pictures of the Enchanted River in countless Internet sites, one may scream “Photoshopped!” But such is the essence of the most famous tourist spot in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur: It’s too magical to be natural.

Barangay Cambatong, where the river is found, is steeped in oral tradition. And the lore of how the water body got its mystical tint is not hard to believe. For who else could have created this bewitching palette of colors but the ethereal beings endowed with the powers of magic and enchantment?

Legend has it that one firefly-lit night, fairies floated above the river while elves watched from cliffs and banks. With their wands, the fairies stirred the water, toyed with sapphire and jade, and made the tones fade and meld to achieve a shade of bluish green that now paints the riverbed.

Twelve kilometers from the highway junction, the Enchanted River shapes the boundary of Barangays Talisay and Cambatong in Hinatuan. Though some portions of the well-maintained dirt road are undulating, these don’t make the ride bumpy and dusty as some tourists wrote in their blogs. Source

An exciting MUST-GO attraction should be added in your Samal Itinerary, and that is to have a time to chill or get hyped in Maxima Aqua Fun Samal Beach Resort. Maxima Aqua Fun is located at Penaplata, IGACOS which is a booming area of Samal because of its close parameter to the wharf. This resort is known for the exhilarating water sports installed that is truly an endorphin-boosting experience. It’s also known for its natural beautiful landscape that appears from a distance as a resort floating on the sea.

The resort offers well-maintained facilities, safe amenities, good service and a water play field you can enjoy from dawn until dusk. Like other beach resorts in Samal, Maxima Aqua Fun has an overwhelming cliff landscape and water depth suitable for diving and plunging. They offer snorkeling, diving, kayaking, parasailing and banana boat or jet-ski riding. What the resort boasts is their uniquely constructed 40 meter giant slide that cascades to the water- a sure 6 second plunge awaits. And since the location of this resort is nearby San Jose wall and cave which is an exciting diving site, then the resort also has scuba diving packages for beginners and professionals. This is something you don’t want to miss. If soaking in the water is the least thing you’ll do, you can still enjoy their Canopy Walk package wherein you got the chance to walk in a freaking high canopy and jump at the end of the trail just to finish it. Maxima also offers overnight package if you prefer to see the lovely view of the sunset in this side of Samal Island. You are allowed to pitch your tent in your preferred area of the resort. Cookout facilities dot the resort so bringing fresh produce won’t be a problem. The downside though is that stores for quick purchases are not available nearby so better bring all you need before heading here. Source
